what to say after oohing and ahhing over your gorgeous dining room! well let's start with some of my fav's. -built in's and what is in the built-in; sizable hotel silver? - the whisper of turquoise; the balls, and the paintings; subtle but divine. i had never thought to hang an oil over the mirror with chain; LOVE it! -your organic elements esp. the wasp nest in an urn; i have one sitting on a shelf in the garage, going straight to the shop! i could keep going but will step aside, no doubt you will be flooded with comments well done! debra
I love your room, the simplicity of the decorating, the built in and the fireplace.
I too am a lover of New Hampshire and its people. One of the very few drawbacks of my retirement was that I no longer travel to NH on a regular basis, I miss it. Thanks so much for sharing.
You're freaking me out...same exact everything in our dining room right down to the Japanese fish net floats in the dough bin! Rick and I fly fish but we do have different chairs. Your dining room is beautiful and I love it.
Stunning. Your dining room is gorgeous. LOVE your chandelier and all of your accessories are so pretty. Lovely table and chairs. Everything is so well done. Thanks for the tour. Hugs, Marty
boy you're wordy! Making up for the last post?.... Looks beautiful! Thanks for you comments on my blog about the bird pictures. I took your advice and they look so much better.
Stunning Joan! No words were even needed. A few details that I love and stood right out to me - love the black newel post with the black accents in the entry rug, love all the natural elements ... they make a huge statement, and I really LOVE how the blue glass balls reflect the water and the sky in your paintings. It's an absolutely gorgeous room...I would love a meal and a glass of wine in there.
Your dining room is as beautiful as the other rooms you have shown in your house! I love all the character this room has - built-ins, fireplace, pretty windows, wood floors. It has been quite a treat to see your home unfold as you finish different spaces. I am so looking forward to seeing what is next.
so, so beautiful. don't know where to start. it's all so, so, i can't think of the word. organic! yes, that's it. it's organic and yet formal. looks like it is straight out of house beautiful. have they called yet?
How wonderful to have a beautiful dining room like yours. The dough bowl and glass floats are a nice centerpiece on the table andI like the hornets nests on the urns. Babs
As always...just quietly elegant and all the touches of nature are just perfect. Love everything from ceiling to floor, wall to wall. Always get so excited when I see you posted. Thanks....
I've looked at this post a dozen times and everytime I see something else I love. I'm announcing now, I'm going to steal many of your ideas. The styling is great...and of course the gray. I'm always trying to make my gold and organic pieces work better to warm the grays I use in our house.
One word comes to mind...perfect! The chandelier is gorgous and love how the green glass balls pick up the colors of the oil painting..you have done a beautiful job!
Just gorgeous!! Every single thing! I love it all!!! So lovely and so inviting! We can't wait to sit at the table and have one your your delicious meals! Knowing the history of much of your things make them even more special. I remember the paintings in the den in Dallas and remember so much more. love
Absolutely lovely in its simplicity. My favorite things: your hotel silver (!) in that incredible built in, the nautical paintings on the fireplace, the glass floats adding that smooth texture among the wood, and those fabulous chippy urns. I would imagine you enjoy lengthy wonderful gatherings in there. Thanks for sharing, Joan. :)
What a great blend of elements. Love the organic touches and the blue beach glass balls in the wood tray! The very old candle holders are a favorite! What a great touch with the picture hanging down in front of the large mirror...you take chances that I really like! Your chandelier is a great mix with the room, not too fancy but just enough to be formal. Your built in cabinet is classic for the style of home and so interesting to peer into!
Hi Joan, Dan, and Ella: "Bringing the outdoors in". Everything has a place; this room is beautiful, quiet, stunning, perfect! I am copying the print over the mirror idea! Cindy
Beautiful! I love how the eye goes from one spot to another. Your dining room is simply beautiful. Only thing missing is a table surrounded with friends. Thanks for sharing. xo
Hi Joan, What a gorgeous dining room. I LOVE your chandelier..it's like the icing on the cake in this room. That built in cabinet is VERY special too. The whole room is perfect! Thanks for sharing with us. Maura :)
You had me at chandelier! The textures, the finishes, the style are so beautiful it takes my breathe away. There is not one thing in the room that I don't love. Everything I can tell is hand picked and has a meaning to you. No one puts a room together like that buying everyday items. This picture post just made my day. Thank you for sharing your wonderful beautiful dining room.
You seriously have one of the prettiest houses ever! Your dining room is a dream....I love how nicely you pair natural elements (the wasps nest, wood, moss and honed out wood bowl)with such elegant pieces such as the chandelier and handsome antiques. Such a pretty room! I also love the fireplace in there....!!!

I found my way to your beautiful home because I am looking to fill an antique dough bowl with Japanese fishing floats (for my living room credenza). All of the work that you have done is lovely and pitch perfect--thank you so much for sharing!
Oh my Joan! Love the stepping stones, the black umbrella, the view!!...Is the shutter secured? Does it topple in the wind? Do you have screens on your french doors? Or do you not get the bugs Ohio does? I'll leave questions for others now.....:) Take care, Sara
Absolutely beautiful Joan. I have an early 1900's sterling silver plated brass accent lamp from the Los Angeles Biltmore for sale if interested. When the LA Biltmore was rennovated in the 70's, the hotel held an auction selling furniture, decor, ect....My aunt purchased the the lamp at that time. Lamp is beautiful and still works. The bell shaped silver shade is very unique. "L A BILTMORE" is enscribed on the base of the lamp. I can provide you pictures if you are interested or know someone who would like this beautiful piece. I recently had the lamp appraised and will gladly provide this info. bjames.ga@gmail.com
