    what to say after oohing and ahhing over your gorgeous dining room!
    well let's start with some of my fav's.
    -built in's and what is in the built-in; sizable hotel silver?
    - the whisper of turquoise; the balls, and the paintings; subtle but divine. i had never thought to hang an oil over the mirror with chain; LOVE it!
    -your organic elements esp. the wasp nest in an urn; i have one sitting on a shelf in the garage, going straight to the shop!
    i could keep going but will step aside, no doubt you will be flooded with comments

    I love your room, the simplicity of the decorating, the built in and the fireplace.

    I too am a lover of New Hampshire and its people. One of the very few drawbacks of my retirement was that I no longer travel to NH on a regular basis, I miss it. Thanks so much for sharing.

    You're freaking me out...same exact everything in our dining room right down to the Japanese fish net floats in the dough bin! Rick and I fly fish but we do have different chairs. Your dining room is beautiful and I love it.

    Stunning Joan! No words were even needed.
    A few details that I love and stood right out to me - love the black newel post with the black accents in the entry rug, love all the natural elements ... they make a huge statement, and I really LOVE how the blue glass balls reflect the water and the sky in your paintings. It's an absolutely gorgeous room...I would love a meal and a glass of wine in there.

    Your dining room is as beautiful as the other rooms you have shown in your house! I love all the character this room has - built-ins, fireplace, pretty windows, wood floors.     I've looked at this post a dozen times and everytime I see something else I love. I'm announcing now, I'm going to steal many of your ideas. The styling is great...and of course the gray. I'm always trying to make my gold and organic pieces work better to warm the grays I use in our house.

    Absolutely lovely in its simplicity. My favorite things: your hotel silver (!) in that incredible built in, the nautical paintings on the fireplace, the glass floats adding that smooth texture among the wood, and those fabulous chippy urns.     What a great blend of elements. Love the organic touches and the blue beach glass balls in the wood tray! The very old candle holders are a favorite! What a great touch with the picture hanging down in front of the large mirror...you take chances that I really like! Your chandelier is a great mix with the room, not too fancy but just enough to be formal. Your built in cabinet is classic for the style of home and so interesting to peer into!

    You had me at chandelier! The textures, the finishes, the style are so beautiful it takes my breathe away. There is not one thing in the room that I don't love. Everything I can tell is hand picked and has a meaning to you. No one puts a room together like that buying everyday items. This picture post just made my day. Your dining room is a dream....I love how nicely you pair natural elements (the wasps nest, wood, moss and honed out wood bowl)with such elegant pieces such as the chandelier and handsome antiques.     The sisal rug in the dining room is brilliant. It's so appropriately understated while adding such visual texture to the lovely room. I love it when large accessories are content to let other pieces grab the spotlight. Your house inspires great awe!

    Absolutely beautiful Joan. I have an early 1900's sterling silver plated brass accent lamp from the Los Angeles Biltmore for sale if interested. When the LA Biltmore was rennovated in the 70's, the hotel held an auction selling furniture, decor, ect....My aunt purchased the the lamp at that time. Lamp is beautiful and still works. The bell shaped silver shade is very unique. "L A BILTMORE" is enscribed on the base of the lamp. I can provide you pictures if you are interested or know someone who would like this beautiful piece.     Fabulous! I love Benjamin Moore's Halo and have it in my kitchen. I love how it goes with almost every other color, especially navy which I have in my dining room. I am now completing my pantry and needed to see it against the darker wood (walnut?) like it have in your dining room. Thank you for the inspiration!
