I've added a jaunty new sink skirt in anticipation of spring! Two days ago a late winter snowstorm brought us an additional 13-inches of snow; this was on top of the 10-inches or so that was still on the ground from the last snowfall. Spring seems very far away at the moment, but I know it will be here before we know it!
The citron chevron fabric works well in the kitchen with my collection of antique rugs and vintage & antique green yellowware in the glass-front cabinets.
You can see all of our snow out the window!
Vintage hotel-silver champagne buckets flank the sink and hold white Kalanchoes. This champagne bucket is from the Hotel Tuller in Detroit.
This hotel-silver bucket with the engraved "N" is from the Newhouse Hotel in Salt Lake City.
Beautiful and so spring like...as I sit looking at still more snow floating down by. I can't wait. Anyway, love your new skirt. Joan what do you use on your soapstone? Oil, wax, if wax what type?

One of the last rooms to do we saved the most expensive for last ! I'm sure you know what I'm talking about lol ! I hope your having a great week . hi Sara, I actually love prints and think of this skirt like I do pillows- something that can easily be changed out for a different look when the mood arises! Though I like living with solid/neutrals in general I thought the fun color and pattern of this fabric just said 'spring'!

ReplyDeleteAC in March....How quickly I forgot Texas "winter"!! I think I'll take my 13" of snow over your 89 degrees Lisa;) I remember in Dallas it would be the middle winter and the ac would be on and I'd have my gas fireplace burning to 'play-like' it was winter;)

Your skirt makes me want to tear off the doors to our sink cabinet right now! But Leo can't see it. Maybe if I show him yours, he'll cooperate! The shot of green really does say spring despite the mounds of snow visible from your window.
ReplyDeleteYou know Jane, Dan was not a fan either- must be a "man" thing!! But the doors are in storage in the basement and can always be re-attached in minutes and the skirt is on a tension rod, so no holes were drilled in the frame. Tell Leo I asked 'pretty please' if you could try it!! good luck!
DeleteThe power of 'pretty please' is quite amazing. I did the same with Gary and it actually worked and he actually really really likes our new sink skirt in our new house. I reassured him the doors would be safe in the basement and that really helped him relax as we (ripped) gently took them off. One day I will start posting again!

DeleteOMG!!!!I Know I asked "What else ya got?" but this THIS!! A pattern!! A print!! I thought you were a purist!! Only color for accent and only beautiful turquoise!! My eyes, My eyes!! You were my hero and a new decorating style(for me) was born. I had seen the light. But, I refuse to go down without a fight. I will shamelessly copy your pure style,and remove all checks, stripes, florals and plaids!!Even if you won't!!Oh,speaking of turquoise fishing floats (yes we were!)when my hubby was in the service, they did an exercise on an island and guess what was there,covering every beach. Yup, tons of fishing floats,every color,shape,and size!!! He collected 4 boxes and gave them all away!! I loved them when I lived along the coast of Oregon for a short while. Please don't change them out for something else.I would probably DIE!!! Oh, the skirt is really cute!!
ReplyDeleteFunny:) A purist?! Hardly;) I love all good design in fabric/wallpaper, etc. It's just not what I choose to live with on a daily basis. Look back through my rooms- lots of color, pattern and textures- just no checks/stripes/florals or plaids:) (which sounds like it might be a good thing to edit if you have do have all of those all at once!:):) Not to worry... like I said, it's just a jaunty little skirt to change things up for spring. The kitchen is large and can handle the action! The linen skirt will be back the second I grow tired of this one!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful kitchen. Love everything about it...the pulls, the soapstone, how light and airy it is. I love the chevron pattern of the skirt. That pattern is really popular right now. Your green yellowware bowls caught my eye. Love those! I recently started collecting yellowware bowls (just the yellow color), but I am loving your collection. I've never seen them...I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. :)
