Our recent snow seems to be the perfect backdrop for a brand new year.... a fresh start, a new beginning. At present we are at 6 inches and counting!
Along our walk today.
It was 5 degrees with a wind chill of minus 9;)
Ella chose to stay home!

ReplyDeleteI think I might just be the first comment for the new year!! Your walk today looked like it must have been magical. There is nothing like a snow covered walk in the woods! We are gearing up for some snow here in Connecticut. Brian and my son just brought wood in from behind the garage so we're all set for a fire. Ruth is the lucky one...she left for Florida yesterday!!

Brrr. Beautiful, though. It's lightly snowing but blowing and howling like a banshee here on top of the mountain. We won't be getting the snow you will. Stay warm! I think Ella has the right idea.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow and scenery, Joan. I think Ella is the smart one. We had to put down our nearly 15 year old Springer Spaniel this past Sunday. Our sweet Angel was such a constant part of our lives, and it's quite difficult to ring in 2014 without her. But we are looking forward to better times and wishing you the best year ever :)

Hi! I've been following you for a couple of years. Just love watching all the progress you have made on your beautiful home. After 16 years in Texas, I, too, find myself on the east coast. We bought an old colonial and moved in last week. We were suppose to start the renovations today, but the weather had better ideas. You are my inspiration. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful 2014! Your pictures are beautiful. We're cold here in northern Michigan (5 deg.), but not quite as cold as you guys. I like winter best when it's between 25 and 30 deg.! I hope this deep freeze moves off soon. We've had a very early start to winter here with a total of 89 inches of snow that has fallen since late October. Of course a bunch of it melted but still it's been a very busy start to winter for us!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photography, Joan! Do not blame Ella one bit as currently in our area, we have had a total accumulation of 88.1102" of snow with plummeting temperatures on top of it. It is being reported that it is actually warmer at the South Pole right now, than it is here .... BUT .... the good news is we are suppose to be getting a break as temps are to warm up within the next few days which means (you guessed it) .... more snow ... LOL! -Brenda-

A good snow always brings such peace, although we did not get the snowfall totals here in Burlington that happened in your area and south. So, I'm a tad jealous. Temps are pretty frigid though! Happy New Year..do you walk in snowshoes ? Beautiful photos, my favorite would be the metal orb, my husband is using the snow plow even as we speak ( 8 inches here). My job is front steps and side porch for the silly cat, who love to sit on the porch and watch the birds at the feeders. My older cat just watches from the window. Stay warm.

Happy New Year!!! I am happy to report that we got three inches down here in Virginia, I am a happy girl right now. My daughter up in Connecticut has about 6, and her husband is as happy as can be cleaning everyone's driveways. Have fun in the snow and stay warm!!!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen snow in years when we moved here .. after living in various states then in Argentina, snow was a vague memory.
ReplyDeleteSo far, today, I was able to walk/slide to the mailbox in about 6 inches of new snow and slid out the door to meet the UPS man this afternoon.
It is pretty when you watch it fall , with someone there with you.
I am now worried that I will fall and they won't find me til Spring lol
