I saw that article! I was recently traveling and picked up the magazine for airplane reading. Saw your kitchen and thought, "wait - I've seen that before!" Very cool. Congrats.
Joan, How nice...and well deserved. Honestly, your home is one of my all time favorites and it's great that you're featured in House Beautiful. Happy Easter to you, Dan and Ella. xo, Karen
It may just be a mention but I'm sure someone will come calling soon because you have one of the most beautiful kitchen and home out there in blog land. Thanks for sharing it with your readers!! I am always inspired when I visit your blog!! :)
Pinky, In this photo (from furthest to closest) I have oatmeal, green split peas, rice, flour and sugar. I have since changed out the rice to penne pasta.
Those jars are THE best. In addition to loving my lineup which is identical to Joan's, I've been giving them as year-round presents for over 30 years. In fact, just today I filled one and gave it as an Easter basket to the angel who does my hair - squished it full of excelsior with Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs strewn throughout, and left it on her front porch.
House Beautiful posted on Facebook, so when I saw your kitchen I knew it as good as my own! I hope you & Dan are pleased with the shot, it looks great!!! You both deserve your hard work to be recognized!
picture perfect. saw that article and felt like i was reading about my friends kitchen. having said that, friend. do you remember where you got your kitchen runner? happy easter.
that is so sweet Stacia. I do- it is an antique that I got at an historic society sale in Portland Oregon years ago. You don't want to know that I paid $5 :) It was my first antique rug that is now a collection of many!
So exciting! I wrote a post on what you need to know about slipcovers and they picked it up. Good feeling. Those canisters look retro hip and uncluttered. Nice.
Hi! I absolutely love your fireplace!! My boyfriend and I are trying to recreate it. Do you know where you got your bricks or the name of them?? Thanks!!
Piera, Thank you. The bricks are original to our antique farmhouse. You can read about it here.... http://fortheloveofahouse.blogspot.com/2009/01/brick-wall.html or by clicking on "fireplaces" under "topics of interest" on my sidebar!
I love your style!! I've admired this kitchen on the internet for a while, was great to find out it's a NH home since I've lived there my whole life...beautiful home!
Congratulations on the mention. Yesterday was Mothers Day, and I realize, you don't mention children in your blog, except the furry variety. Not sure if you have them and don't mention them, or if for a variety of possible reasons you have not had children. I feel very clumsy right now. What I am trying to say is, a belated happy mothers day to your mother heart that nurtures those sweet creatures who are lucky enough to be adopted by you, and nurtures readers into finding their own ways to make a home. Cassandra E
Cassandra, What a beautiful, beautiful comment. I do not have children. But have long acknowledged that I am a nurturer and a tender of all those I love. To describe it as a "mother's heart" is such a lovely thing. A gift to me, so thank you. I will cherish you last sentence.... xxojoan
~so glad you've had a couple of posts recently. I always enjoy "touring" your home and grounds. It was nice seeing a bit of Mississippi represented by the urn. I live 100 miles north of Jackson, so that was fun to see Miss. represented ALL the way up where you are. :-) Please keep the posts coming.
Welcome! Thank you for leaving a comment; you have no idea how much your comments inspire me to keep writing- I appreciate each and every one.
