  6. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the room was the word 'restful'. I guess that's a good word for a bedroom, but it was beyond that - I saw 'rest' as in retreat, silence, peace, serenity. I like that you have left it relatively spare.

  7. Joan, This is such a lovely guest bedroom. Any guest would feel the warmth and welcoming feel to this room. You seem to have a lot of natural light in your home. If I haven't mentioned it before, Happy New Year to you.

  9. Another beautiful room Joan!! Do you have much snow there!? We are having our winter's share here in the Puget Sound!! Ice and snow = no power!! Thankfully it's been on for a while now! Have a wonderful weekend!!

  11. You're going to think I'm nuts, but ALL day long, I've been texting my family and friends to ask if they have a specific looking basket for me to use for a photo shoot I have in mind. YOUR BASKET (by the bed) IS PERFECT!!! I SO wish I could just pop on over to your house and borrow it. Please oh please tell me that's not a one of a kind antique piece, and that I can just pick one up at my local Target? xoxo!

  12. I love the room, Joan. The bedding is beautiful, especially the long pillow. I also like the idea of using an oversized quilt at the bottom of the bed...it works well if you have a queen size bed and can use a king quilt. The color of it is a favorite of mine. I have a nearly identical rug, except mine is smaller and I use it in my kitchen. It is lovely for guests that you have enough room to have a desk and chair in the room...AND a chandelier. It is all so elegant.
    All the best...Victoria

  55. A guest room dedicated to guests! My North guest room disappeared last year, when I acknowledged ts real function as storage. The South one is still in operation, but is just a bed insinuated in a room lined with bookshelves.

  59. Ohhh! Just love it all! I'm swooning over the bed pillows. So inspiring. I smiled when I saw the desk with the ottoman under it. I'm on the hunt for a console or table or desk to put next to my living room chair and be able to scoot the ottoman under it. I've been tweaking my first floor, painting most of the walls Benjamin Moore, Titanium after reviewing your paint list. Thank you for all the wonderful pictures!

  81. What a lovely elegant, welcoming, cosy, stylish room - beautifully decorated and presented - looks so lived in and as though it just evolved magically rather than being contrived and overdecorated. You have such a skill for doing that.

  82. What a perfect guest room...it looks like you've thought of everything. I love the painting above the bed and the desk is just gorgeous. Your guests will never want to leave!
