Okay. Can I tell you how much I love the "things" in this room? The mirros, the turquoise pots (got to have those!) and the crosses are particularly wonderful.
Absolutely breathtaking. Your home is so warm and inviting yet with an understated elegance. I study each photo (many times!). Getting many lessons from your beautiful home - hopefully am incorporating into mine.
What is the green pottery on the table near the bathroom door? Is that a particular kind of pottery you collect?
Thanks for sharing - can't wait to read the details.
The entire space is so lovely. The arrangement of the sitting area is brilliant. I love the way the furniture is staggered -- and the seating is not a standard sofa or love seat.
Of course the most welcoming feature is the lovely Ella curled up on the bed.
Absolutely beautiful. The furniture and accessories are gorgeous! I love the floors, too. I don't think I'd ever leave that room if it were mine! Great job.
Your master bedroom as the entire house should be written up in Veranda magazine (my fovorite mag). I know you have an upcoming magazine article but I think others should get on this too. What a beautiful home. Love the master bedroom particularly your chaise. I have always wanted one. It is so funny, you are really into the neutrals and I am the exact opposite with lots and lots of color in my home but I truly do appreciate the way you have decorated your home. So comfortable and welcomeing (is that a word?).
I absolutely love it! What an incredible space yet completely soothing for decompressing at the end of the day. The antlers and the touches of gold are lovely. You are so talented!
I love the relaxed feeling of your master bdrm. It has warmth and texture and it is a room I could see myself sleeping or relaxing in. I think the pict of your pup says it all!!! I would not be able to resist a nap on that bed either. Happy Monday,Kathysue
So serene-the colors are so wonderful! You give me ambition to change things in our bedroom...if only my husband would agree. You must be married to a great guy! Thanks for sharing...I look forward to seeing more!
The serenity of that room echos across the internet. Not surprisingly, you have created a wonderful space. Those wood floors are to die for, the rest ain't bad either!! The finishing touch... Ella!
Well this is pretty much what I expected- Perfection! I love the way you mix a little glam in with the rustic! Your neutrals with the soft blue and green keeps it organic and cozy. Love the combination of crosses on the book case! You've modernized the antiques by giving them a new purpose in a perfectly updated setting! Kudos!
Very well done. It's well-weathered, but high-end aesthetic. You're 'editing' is beautiful. I like that the lamps don't match, but are suited for each other. The colors are calming & are fabulous for a space so full of textures. Everything in the space makes me want to rub my hands over it!
Okay, you just confirmed my decision that a soothing neutral color palate is the way to go in our master bedroom. Love everything about your room! Thanks for the inspiration:)
Well the last picture just about did me in!!! Ella on the bed!!! So, so sweet. I love everything in your room especially the crosses. I noticed you even put corn out for the birds. Those are the details we have come to expect from you and you never disappoint. I love the color scheme. I could go on and on but the biggest surprise is the size of the room. Did you take walls down and combine two rooms? All of it is just beautiful. Book worthy!!! xoxo Dianne
Gorgeous!!! Love how tranquil and serene it is, and those floors are to die for! Really loving the bench at the end of the bed too - great color - can I steal it for my bedroom? ;-)
How do you describe your color schemes? I see oatmeal or do you call it something else, like in the coverlet - some grays - and then of course the lovely touch of turquoise/green. This is so opposite my own style of deep jewel tones - I am trying to see how I would switch to this more neutral (yet layered in color and texture)style given that I have many persian carpets, apricot walls and oil paintings in my great room. Would changing chairs to solid whites or creams do it?! I love what I see - just not sure how to evolve to this elegant yet subtle style.
Oh boy, I knew this was gonna be good, and you didn't disappoint. I can't really express how gorgeous I think your home is, other than to say, it is exactly what I would love for my own home.
Your master bedroom is so beautiful. I love all the old furniture and the light walls and trim. I just scrolled down to see your post about the headboard too. It is perfect for your room - all 200 pounds of it! WOW! It really suits the rooms size and I love the warm woods you have used. Very beautiful!
Just one question: "When can I come and stay with my hubby and kick you guys out of that beautiful, gorgeous, fabulous, restful, master bedroom?" This is a space I'd love to have...and the adjoining bathroom too! Sooooo beautiful!
The last shot is the best one! Nothing better than having your best little friend snoozing on Mama's bed. The bedroom is absolutely stunning!http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/
Oh my, I don't even have the words, so beautiful. I have looked at every detail in all of the rooms you have posted so many times. Everything is just so beautiful. I really enjoy your blog. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Wenda Scott
So lovely. Every room you've shown your readers has been so wonderful. My friend and I talk about your blog site as though its the latest Veranda magazine. Karen
Pure perfection. I love the layers of detailed accessories... a true masterpiece. I am still trying to catch my breath. Must go back for a 3rd time and savor your room.
Beautiful beyond words ... seriously. You're simply magic the way that you mix such amazing textures and elements together. I don't know that I'd wanna get outta bed if this were my spsace.
I ahve gone through these pics several times now and EVERY single detail is perfection in my eyes! The seating furniture placement is amazing! We have a large master too and I have been trying for YEARS to figure out furniture arrangement! We have very little WALL space as we have many windows and doors. I LOVE this room and how you have done it. Love the mix of the antigues and the subtle elegance! The turquoise pots are calling my NAME! Can you tell us about them, please!? XO, Pinky
So lovely and serene. Some of my favorite points; the french doors are wonderful, the floor (drooling), love the headboard, subtle hues, the gentle pop of turquoise, the texture throughout the room is amazing and my very favorite pic...the last one. Adorable!
The first image set the tone...soothing, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful, the perfect retreat. Loved seeing Ella's bed as part of the room, not to mention Ella herself...on *your* bed! She's such a love. Again, thank you so much for sharing... xo J~
Your master bedroom is so serene, comfortable and a beautiful wonder in all directions! Thank you for sharing it with us! I know RS will honor your home and I can't wait to see it in PRINT!
...another absolutely perfect room...perfect for reflecting on dreams that have come true...and perfect for dreaming new dreams...every room of this house speaks love...(my favorite touches...the carnations on the bedside table...and the dog on the bed)
OMG! Joan, I had no idea the room was so large. It's absolutely stunning (as it the rest of your amazing home)! I love the simple touch of antlers over the mantle, and the beautiful soft velvet upholstery on that ottoman that matches the budoir pillow, and coordinates with that rug remnant pillow so beautifully! And I love love love how you took the fabric color of that velvet, that beautiful aqua turquoise-y color, the sumptuous lineny-gold tones from your other bedding, and we see it mixed throughout the room in the beautiful asian pottery, the gorgeous gilded crosses, that mirror (UGH! I'm coveting it!) and that chaise! Oh to have a room big enough to have a chaise! Joan, your home is gorgeous, and the master bedroom is just as all of the other rooms are, too: beautiful, inspiring, motivating, and most of all completely YOU! Love it! xo,a
Oh, and those birds! WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE BIRDS!?!?!? I love them! I've got a little fetish for birds now, apparently. You know I have the clay rooftop birds, but I've got a few that I'm peppering throughout the garden, and I'm in love with these!
Wow that is one spectacular room. LOVE the tones of the room, one of my favorite palettes, your gorgeous pillows on the bed look like antique textiles, are they? I love your dark wood floors. Such an elegant and beautiful room. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Your bedroom really did come together! I remember when you costructed that beautiful headboard. I love the colors of the room and how it looks dressed up but comfortable at the same time. Great job and thanks for sharing!
Seriously? The bird seed for your birdies? Genius! I AM totally stealing that idea for my bird collection. I love the hints of color in all of your rooms. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I have a lovely, large home but will never have a home with the grandeur of yours & it is so downright fun to live vicariously through you. :)
So much to love... the seeds for the birds, Ella on the bed, the colours, the headboard, that there is no tv in there, that the room would be as comfortable and restful for a man as for a woman. Beautiful job.
I had to go back a whole year to find the post of your mail box to show my hubs. I have a serious case of mailbox envy. Can you imagine what a jolt that mail box post would give to the farmer that comes too close to it driving his huge equipment down our rural road? (It has happened twice in the past 30 years.) What a beautiful home you two have and I am so glad to see it will be published.
I see someone loves to drag antlers home like Rick does. Your bedroom is beautiful, love the crosses and Ella looks so cute sound to sleep on the bed. I hope you’re enjoying this gorgeous day!
Thank you so much for sharing this part of your home with us. I love how each lamp is different! This rooms seems chock full of stories--each object, or collection of objects is a symbol of some adventure or other. You're taste is impeccable--and the whole room is more than a sum of its beautiful parts. It makes me want to hear the stories--and know the lives which have been created as a result!
What a lovely room!!! I love how the headboard came out. And I love the understated mix of rustic and gilt. What a peaceful and serene bedroom - just as it should be!!
i know you're singing 'i'll see you in september', but i just wanted you to know that i am using your coverlet and rug idea for my bedroom makeover... we have a leather sleigh bed, head and footboard, so i think this will work out rather nicely. i had already thought of a shag, but couldn't come up w/ an idea for the bed, this is going to be perfect, thanks sweetie!
I am truly amazed, I adore this room! It is so comfortable, luxurious. The gleam of the crucifix collection, the patina of the aqua pottery, the bedding, the luxe bench, I could go on & on!

What a perfectly beautiful room...every detail is amazing...right down to the bird seed for the sweet birds. Love the table of gold crosses...the colors, everything!
hey joan! a couple of questions about all of your ikea drapes. did you do two panels on each side of each window (4 panels total per window?) Also, did you hem them yourself or get someone else to? I bought some curtains today and LOVE them, but not sure if I want to start the task of sewing. :) Thanks for all of your secrets and help!
Kristin- Yes, I used two panels per window side, or 4 panels per window. I did not hem them at all. Luckily they were the perfect length for my windows. My packages came with self hemming tape, but in a package I bought recently for a client I see they no longer include the tape. You could always buy some to iron on instead of sewing. Good luck.
I love your master bedroom. Will you please share the paint color? Also, where did you get that tapestry pillow on your bed? It's all very lovely. I am working on my master bedroom now and will be using creams, whites, soft turquoise and believe it not - deep red. I realize this will be very different but I have a deep red chenille sofa that I am in love with, so I will be incorporating it into my design.
Anon- if you click on the link at the very bottom of this post you will find all the details about this room. All paint colors are also listed on my side bar under "my paint and stain colors".
Love your bedroom. It really is a masterpiece and a haven. I can only imagine sitting on the porch off your room in the evening and then coming in to such a restful place. Absolutely stunning. I love to study your photos. You have such a exceptional gift for decorating. You really are inspiring. Cindy
BEAUTIFUL! Just stumbled upon this through Pinterest. Unfortunately, after spending seven hours going through Pinterest and Houzz (so my husband says), looking for hardwood floor stain colors, I couldn't find the perfect one..... and then, today, I just happen to look at the first photo and it is your house. Your hardwoods are the ideal color that I was trying to find..... too bad we had them all stained yesterday:( I absolutely love everything about your house!! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you katz! I hope your hardwoods turn out exactly like you want them too! Sorry you found the photo a day late;) Also, the stain formula is on my sidebar under "my paints and stain formulas" fyi!

ReplyDeleteAnon- if you click on the link at the very bottom of this post you will find all the details about this room. All paint colors are also listed on my side bar under "my paint and stain colors".
DeleteLove your bedroom. It really is a masterpiece and a haven. I can only imagine sitting on the porch off your room in the evening and then coming in to such a restful place. Absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteI love to study your photos. You have such a exceptional gift for decorating. You really are inspiring.

That is such a lovely comment Cindy, thank you so much!
DeleteBEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteThank you katz! I hope your hardwoods turn out exactly like you want them too! Sorry you found the photo a day late;) Also, the stain formula is on my sidebar under "my paints and stain formulas" fyi!
