too pretty not to share....

I hope you don't mind a few more Fall photos!

It's just so gorgeous here that I can't help but want to share it all with you. When you look at the photos imagine that the view is not just in front of you, but all around you- 360 degrees of jaw-dropping color and beauty! And, to be honest, the photographs really don't do the views justice. Every day there are subtle changes; it is a spectacular time of year in New England. As I mentioned to Dan today, I think we use the word "wow" about 100 times a day during Fall!

We have 15 sugar maples along the drive up to the house.

The view from the upstairs porch.

Gorgeous falls are a mere 20-minute walk from the house!

Downstream from the falls. This is deep in the woods, so the colors are less brilliant, but still a stunning view, yes?!

A bridge along the hike.

Ella, being a very brave girl, making her crossing.

I adore this photo.
(This photo was taken from an adjacent hillside, looking back to our hill.)
I have to pinch myself when I realize that....
this is a view of where we live- literally!
The white house in the far right of the photo is my next door neighbor...
Our house sits directly behind (but not in view) the white house.
I want to do a post on how we came to live in New Hampshire, but perhaps this photo says everything that needs to be said.... ?!

A closer view of my next door neighbor's house. This photo faces North.

The little white dot about a one-third of the way in the photo from the left is on our daily walk. It is one mile from our house and is an antique church (that is now a children's summer playhouse). For reference, my neighbor's house can not be seen in this photo; it is out of the frame to the right.
The mountain on the left of the photo is Pack Monadnock.

This is a closer view of the little white dot/church!

Here is the street view of the above photo! The white dot (!) is the church on the left. Trees hide the steeple of the church on the right in the photo above.
I will also add that I was brought to a few tiny tears this past weekend when driving home past this very spot, and there was a tour bus driving through.... a tour bus was driving through my neighborhood! Lets just say that did not happen in my neighborhood back in Dallas!

Thank you for sharing the view with me!!
Happy Fall to you!

  1. Joan,
Don't you just feel so blessed to actually live amongst such beauty. I would be so thankful everyday. I wish there were views like this in the midwest...I love the walls of orange from your porch!
I really loved this post and seeing these views and I would definately love to hear the story of how you came to live there.
Enjoy every minute of your fall!

Do you rake all the leaves?

  2. BEAUTIFUL! I'm living vicariously through these pictures - our fall down South this year is so sad. The drought is turning everything quite brown, and killing all the color. The only beautiful trees I've seen around around the lakes, so I appreciate these!

  10. hi joan,

you live in a postcard. it is beyond beautiful if there is such a place. to sit on your upstairs deck must be an amazing experience. the walks, the views are jaw droppingly gorgeous. and it's not just the trees, but your home, the neighbors, the church w/requisite steeple. omg, i'm running out of superlatives. while i'm so so jealous i am also so very happy that someone like you lives there and does not take it for granted.

have a wonderful fall weekend and thank you for sharing.

  18. Hello Joan!
What a beautiful post...but then how could it be anything else but beautiful when you live in an area such as yours. Your home has such a beautiful setting. I'm enjoying looking at past posts and seeing what I have missed. I just sent an email to my husband (who is sleeping at the moment) who works nights...I told him about your blog and he wanted me to send him the link so he could look at it when he get's a break during the night. I know he'll enjoy it as much as I am. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Sunday.

  20. Oh yeah??? Well the ragweed around here is blooming like crazy and the color is magnificent! I doesn't matter that I am extremely allergic to it and have been living on allergy pills for the last few months!!

The only consolation I get seeing your pictures is imagining you raking alllll those leaves later in the season. hehehehe

  26. Joan,
It's all soooo beautiful! Those rolling hillsides with their brilliant singing colors are breathtaking. What a gorgeous place on earth to be able to call home. And the colors surrounding your house offer the biggest warm embrace from nature.
Happy beautiful home to you, Dan and Ella. xoxo

Just discovered your blog and I must say I'm in love with your house. I'm originally from Pennsylvania but have been living in California the past 27 years due to my Cali born and raised spouse who couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Your home and its location is beautiful and allows me to live vicariously thru you!

  34. As much as I love the posts of your beautiful home, I love these posts, as well. I have lived in New England all of my 38 years, and in NH for 11 years. Living here, I guess sometimes its easy to take these views for granted - but posts like this show me the natural beauty in a new way, and make me want to stop and take another slow look around. Thank you! :)

  35. Just discovered your blog today:) It brought tears to my eyes just looking at your beautiful house and the outstanding scenery. I have lived in Southern California most of my life, but my heart has always longed for New England. I visited there last autumn, and it was like being inside a beautiful storybook:) Thank you so much for sharing with us, it means so much to be able to "be there" through your blog! Blessings to you!
