Thank you so much for all your lovely well-wishes for our anniversary and my birthday!
It was a wonderful day made that much more special by your sweet words...
thank you!
A bit of the bubbly was enjoyed;) so I wanted to share with you a new favorite mix!
First, an apology to those of you who don't have access to Trader Joe's.... TJ's is a favorite of mine and I literally researched mileage from this house to the closest TJ's before we bought (for the record it's about 22 miles away, and just last week moved several blocks closer, so now TJ's has their first store in New Hampshire! Yay!!) (and FYI- I see from TJ's website that they are soon to arrive in Texas! Lucky you!)
Trader Joe's Orange Peach Mango Juice mixed with champagne is a delightful blend!
It's softer, somehow, than a mimosa and in each sip you get hints of all three fruits. Yummmm!

Our favorite mixing champagne is this Jaume Serra Cristalino, Cava Brut. (In my opinion it is a crime against Madame Clicquot to mix our favorite Veuve Clicquot with anything!!) Wine & Spirits gave Cristalino Brut a 91-point rating, and at a $10- $12 price point that's a very good thing! I can often find it on sale for around $9, and in Dallas would find it at World Market.
So, cheers to you!!!

I have a trip to Trader Joes planned for next week, 50-or-so miles from the house for us, and the orange-peach-mango juice is going onto my shopping list. Yum!
ReplyDeleteAlas, we do not have Trader Joe's in Canada, but wish we did with all that I hear about it =)
ReplyDeleteCome stay with me on Sunday and you shall have! But I must plan ahead because my best Trader Joe's is about 600 miles away..but we have Lowes Market...and bubbly!
ReplyDeletePV- Is that the store in Santa Fe?! Been to that one too;) I might have to wait until it cools down in Texas before I visit!!
DeleteHappy Happy! And while I love a tad of fresh guava juice with moi champagne...Love your choice! Althouh not a TJ in the entire STATE! Harumph!
ReplyDeleteSpend the rest of the month celebrating girl!....and guy...and dog.
LindaLime- They're opening in Sarasota, FL on Sept. 7th!! WooHoo for You!!!
DeleteJoan,
ReplyDeleteI knew you are a wise person...checking the mileage to the nearest TJ's is something I would have done. We live very close to one of their stores and I love them! That said, I've never tried the Orange Mango Peach juice. I'll definitely give it a try, especially with a bit of bubbly.
Karen
So glad you had fun!!! We go to Trader Joes in CA but not in Houston!! xo Leslie
ReplyDeleteLeslie- They're opening a store in the Memorial area in Houston!!
DeleteAnd....there's already one opened in The Woodlands. However, it's far into the Woodlands; several miles from 45 :( Not easy to get to......
DeleteYou always find the best things, Joan! The closest TJ's is about 2 hours from here. I'm glad you guys had a great celebration. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteLove TJ's they've moved slightly north of us on the DW Highway! I'll have to try your beverage combination!
ReplyDeleteOk, I will be trying that combo. Looks yummy! No TJ's for years, then a year ago we got one 10 miles away and one 13 miles away. Good things come to those who wait..... patiently!
ReplyDeleteThat seems like a great summertime drink. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteJennifer
OH!!! Orange peach MANGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be still my heart! Sounds heavenly and I will go to TJ's and get some soon!!! Then I will ahve an excuse to have some bubbly!!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel so spoiled... Do I go 10 minutes one way to the Old Trader Joe's? Or 15 minutes the other way to the New Trader Joe's?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great drink for this hot weather were having . Ive never been to Trader Joes but there talks of building one across the street from my business. Have a great night
ReplyDeleteDear Joan -
ReplyDeleteA belated Happy Birthday! And, a belated Happy Anniversary to you and Dan!! I think you should celebrate this whole week.....more please!
Cheers to you two!
Loi
PS - I am a TJ fan, too. We are lucky to have 3 near us.
HI Joan, I'm all for trying out new "drinks" , this one sound delicious, so thanks for sharing. Yes, Dallas will be getting a TJ's soon, FW already has one, I'm just hoping they decide to put one in the Frisco area as well, if not, I will driving a while like you did for yours.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! Oh how we love Trader Joe's! =)
ReplyDeleteTrader Joe's and Whole Foods are my second and third homes! Many friends have moved to Colorado and they have all said that the worst thing about their moves has been...no Trader Joe's! TJ's is opening there, too! Yay. I was an exhibitor in an art show at the Huntington Library here in Southern California. I was introduced to a friend of some friends...Mr. Joe, himself! He was so gracious and full of fun! Great experience!
ReplyDeleteWho does''t love Trader Joe's?!
I am copying this blog post and taking it with me on my next trip there. Thank you for the tip.
xoxo, Chris
Chris- that is so cool that you have met the man himself! It's such a great store, I only wish one was closer!!
DeleteTry that juice with coconut rum! Delicious! Happy Birthday and Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteJoni in Va. Beach
May I brag??? Again???
ReplyDeleteWe know and LOVE "the" Trader Joe"! I think it makes such a great "real story"!
Joe Coloumbe in Pasadena, California (I am third generation Pasadena.......(horse-thieves had to be in the beginning! )
Anyway; right down the street (Grand Avenue) was a little market in South Pasadena, called "Pronto"!
Our daughters could walk to i! And they did!
Joe decided that he wanted to buy "better" and "healthier" things from small farmers....etc. He was on the cutting edge of "organic"!
YAY!
He sold it after a time; so it could become bigger......however, I understand that he made strict rules that it retain the same philosophy !
He is the most delightful man; and he has a delightful wife named Alice!
Bravo Joe and Alice! Trader Joe's has hit the mark!!
And to think we were just down the street!
Bravo!!
There's no TJ's up here, but I can visit one when I head south of the border to the Seattle area. I'll have to look for this juice the next time I'm down.
ReplyDeleteI love TJ's and am lucky to have one close by. I will definitely take you up on your recommendation for this lovely drink!

Hi Joan
ReplyDeleteCongratulatons on your anniversary.
Happy Bithday I hope you had the best day.
Kind Regards
Karen
Unfortunately, no Trader Joe's in the Great White North.
ReplyDeleteCheers! -Brenda-
Are those Simon Pearce glasses? Happy Belated!! :) Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehi Meghan, No they aren't Simon Pearce. I found 4 of them at an antique shop (though they're not antique) and then recently found 3 more that have the same glass but different stems! Have you been to their flagship store in Quechee? It's a really pretty site.
DeleteHi Joan, Yes my hubby and I go there at least once a year. We love VT and Simon Pearce (and your blog). They are a good knock-off though, hehe
DeleteThat sounds delicious...can't wait to try!!
ReplyDeleteNo Trader Joe's here in Mississippi, I've always wanted to go....
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary and Birthday! :)
Happy Aniversary and Happy Birthday. I hope you both had a delightful day. Best regards, Wenda
ReplyDeleteOur TJ in The Woodlands (TX) opened mid-June to a early morning line snaking around the building. The Houston store is in the old Bookstop location off Alabama still under construction. The is so little parking there, I can't imagine how it will be for the first month. I finally took my husband to ours Sunday & we purchased ingredients for a TJ pasta dinner. Good stuff, the frozen meatballs were even tasty (we were really tired...) Two Buck (now Three) Chuck wines are tasty also. Located quite away from my house but worth the trip. Addicted to the Coconut Flos...will try your juice/champagne suggestion. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday and anniversary! You share your birthday with my mom and mother in law! I hope there are so many more wonderful days ahead for you and thanks for your great posts. Always enjoyable:) Julie Jenkins, Ohio
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Joan...we too love TJ's (our son in law works for them). I haven't tried that combination however...forwarding to my daughter!
ReplyDeleteMmmm! I'm going to have to try your recipe out this weekend! Or maybe the morning after our son's wedding in York, Maine a week from now... (I'm performing the ceremony... Couldn't think of a better place to be standing...)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
john
We must got TJ's here in Fort Worth this June. I am off to there today for flowers, so I will look for the juice. We have out of town guests arriving tomorrow and this will be perfect.
ReplyDeleteHappy congratulations to you both and happy birthday wishes to you! I don't drink, but that Orange Peach Mango juice sounds lovely. I'm spoiled: two Trader Joe's nearby, one is 5 mins. away, the other about 8 mins. away. The majority of my food shopping is done at TJ's. I'll stop by tonight for produce and quinoa and pick up some of that juice.
ReplyDeleteI do love my bubby...and confess to being a Veuve girl. But, for mixing things, this sounds delish. We have a TJ that I just don't visit very often b/c it's a tad far. But, I have friends that go out of their way to shop there. Might have to hop in the car and go get some of that Orange Peach Mango juice!!
ReplyDeletexoxo Elizabeth
Oh that Peach Mango juice sounds awesome. Sounds like you all had a really blessed anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYum! Happy Belated Birthday Joan. Thanks for the tip ;-) Now I'm off to TJ's to stock up..."the girls" are coming to the farm to celebrate my birthday. This looks like just the thing we should sip by the pool on Saturday morning.
ReplyDeleteDear Joan,
ReplyDeleteSince you like Trader Joe's so much, please check out my Indian cook book Trader Joe's Simply Indian at Amazon. Love your Blog.
Happy belated!!! And I'm laughing because we are peas in a pod. I google mapped the distance between every house we looked at and Whole Foods! And guess what? I now have access to Whole Foods AND Trader Joe's! Can't wait to check it out!
ReplyDeleteLucky you for being so close to Trader Joe's! It's about an hour and a half for me. We are actually heading that direction tomorrow and it is definitely in the plans to stop in before heading home. I'm so happy they moved over into New Hampshire instead of being in Mass. They were almost there anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Trader Joe's . . . When it arrived in my town (Athens, Georgia) a couple of years ago, I was there at 7 a.m. for their grand opening, complete with marching band and smiling, cheering, Hawaiian shirt-clad employees lining the entrance as we all filed in :) I adore that place and keep finding TJ's products that I can't live without. I smiled at your admission about researching the distance from your house - - that is SO something I would do; how is a girl supposed to live without edamame hummus (if you haven't tried it, do)? Or simmer sauces? Or ham & gruyere tart? Or ginger snaps or coconut thins for goodness sake? Thanks for the tip about the juice. I am putting it on my list :)
ReplyDeleteAllison from Athens
Hi Joan- Perfect timing because I'm headed there later today....we're about the same distance from our TJ's that you are!
ReplyDeleteAnd, when I clicked to leave a comment an ad for a TJ coupon appeared. Serendipity!
Have a super week-
Hugs,
Carolyn
My TJ'S moved to Nashua from Tyngsboro. I'm sure we must shop at the same store. I love their multi-grain sour dough bread, vegetable fried rice and spicy peanut vinaigrette.. Those items along with the frozen broccoli and any of the cheeses are always found at my house.
