you can never have too much art!

Art makes me happy!
Every time I look at my bedside table filled with favorite things my heart races a bit.  That's the magic of living with things that you love💗
A new favorite is the small painting done by my friend, designer and artist Artie Vanderpool, on an antique envelope.  Artie happened to show me several pieces he had just completed and when I saw this piece my heart went "thunk" and it was true love!  I asked him if it could be mine... please! As I was fawning over it I thought it would look good on my bedside table next to an antique oil painting I had there, but I had no idea just how perfect these two pieces of art would look together.  It's as if they were made for each other.  I framed it in an acrylic frame to keep it simple and your focus on the painting.

I am excited to host a pop-up shop tomorrow featuring a collection that Artie did which was "inspired" by the colors and energy of the farmhouse and property.  Artie has even been to the farmhouse himself!
Come back here on the blog or over at Instagram tomorrow, November 11, at 12 noon EST to hear the deets on how you too can become a proud owner of one (or more;) of his paintings!

  1. I agree - one can never have too much art. Or books. Or minerals.

Artie's paintings are so beautiful. And the one you bought goes perfectly with the other painting and the crystal.

I am completely in love with my house right now. It brings me such happiness.

  2. Hello Joan, If I had come across this vignette at random, I would have known that it was yours. It has your style written all over it--mostly antique but with a range of objects and textures, including the iron stand and the natural history specimens. Each item has its own center of interest, and you have the knack of combining them so beautifully. I agree that your friend's painting in its Lucite frame lends a lot of interest and spark.

  3. Hello Joan,

This comment is not about Artie's paintings, although they are fascinating.
I was wondering where you purchased your fur throws. I love them, and love seeing your sweet dogs cuddled on them.

    1. hi Mary, I found them at Homegoods several years ago. You can also check out Pottery Barn, Frontgate, Wayfair, Overstock and even Amazon. Yes, the girls adore them in the winter! Good luck.
